The federal government has announced December 26 and 27, 2016 as open occasions to stamp the Christmas festivity.

The declaration originated from the minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, on behalf of the government. 

In an announcement signed by the acting permanent secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido on Wednesday, December 21, the minister encouraged all Christian faithful and Nigerians in general to continue to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in his sustained efforts towards building a peaceful, united and prosperous country.
