Wenger reacts to end of 14-match unbeaten PL run

Arsene Wenger knows its possible to go an entire season without a loss, but also the rare nature of teams like his “Invincibles”.

Arsenal lost 2-1 at Everton on Tuesday, its first loss since an opening day misfire against Liverpool.
That 14-match run catapulted the Gunners to the precipice of the Premier League’s top spot. Now they’ve opened the door for Chelsea to increase its table lead beyond three points.
Here’s Wenger, from the BBC:
I don’t think with five to go we deserved to lose the game but we were caught on two headers. I think especially on the first one we were guilty, the second one was from a corner. We controlled Romelu Lukaku well but two defenders scored. Maybe we made it easy for them when they became more physical. They played a real cup game tonight.
Arsenal could’ve stood to finish more of their chances, and marking needed to be better on the second goal, but both sides played physical in the contest.
Wenger is correct in that Arsenal mostly held Lukaku in check, but the Gunners’ only goal came from a deflected free kick. It’s hard to say Arsenal didn’t “deserve” to lose without a goal from open play.
