Entertainment company sues bank for infringement

A Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned further proceedings till January 13, 2017 in an alleged intellectual property infringement suit filed against Union Bank Plc by GHills Entertainment Ltd.

The entertainment company, in the suit marked FHC/L/CS/659/2015, claimed that Union Bank Plc infringed on its intellectual property tagged, ‘The Stage Campus Tour’.
The plaintiff claimed to have introduced the concept, for driving youth products, to the bank in 2014 and was in discussion with the bank until February 2015.
The plaintiff claimed to have discovered the alleged infringement of its intellectual property by the defendant sometime in March 2015.It, however, alleged that the defendant went behind its back to use the concept without carrying it along or paying it its dues.
But the bank had denied the allegation and filed a counter-claim against the entertainment company.
In reply, however, the entertainment company said, “The Defendant states that the name ‘Union Vibe Campus Tour’ is an imitation of our ‘The Stage Campus tour’.  The counter-claimant  already had the defendant’s  proposal, intellectual property, idea, concept, recommendations, and activation plan with the name ‘The Stage Campus Tour’ before sending a brief to Maverick Equinox Ltd.”
