Ndidi Mum On Leicester Move, Seeks Europa League Progress With Genk

KRC Genk of Belgium and Nigeria Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi,  has refused to be drawn into the much-publicised speculation regarding his switch to English Premier League champions Leicester City, preferring instead to talk about his club’s Europa League aspirations.‎

The Europa League  Round of 32 draws made on Monday pitted modest Belgian club Genk against Astra Giurgiu of Romania.
Ndidi declared that he’s not interested in the speculation which is capable of distracting him from helping  Genk to achieve its set targets for the season.‎
He said: “I have a valid contract with Genk. I’ve seen my game develop tremendously in this place and I’ve received nothing but love from the club and fans.
"So there’s no need to speculate about what may or may not happen and lose focus of what is real. It is even disrespectful of Genk to talk about something like this in the middle of a season.”
The former Flying Eagles defender was however more forthcoming on the Europa League draws and hopeful of scaling the Astra hurdle.
“With all due respect to Astra Giurgiu, I think we could have had a worse draw. There was the possibility of drawing Manchester United or any of the other big teams but that does not mean we’ll underrate Giurgiu.
"We have taken every game serious like a cup final and that was why we finished the group stage as winners of our group. We’ll show respect to Astra but we will work hard to overcome them,” Ndidi said.
He declares that Genk’s ambition is to go as far as possible in the Europa League, possibly winning it at the expense of more established sides still left in the competition.
“We want to go far and take our best shot at winning. We realize if we must win then we have to play the big teams like United, Borussia Mochengladbach, Tottenham and the rest and we are ready to do just that. To be the best, we are ready to face the very best,” the former Nath Boys of Lagos graduate concluded.
Ndidi has been in sterling form for Genk in Europe, playing every single minute of their six group games and scoring two goals in the process.
